SENCO Support Service
Our SENCO Support Service provides guidance and assistance by experienced Chartered Educational Psychologists.
The SENCO plays a vital role in ensuring that your school delivers high quality provision for students experiencing difficulties of all kinds. SENCOs are called upon to demonstrate high-level skills in the efficient planning and delivery of Individual Education Plans; efficient assessments of special educational need; effective liaison and support for teachers, parents and assistants; the ability to manage a staff team; an in-depth knowledge of the current SEN legislation; and a knowledge of national and local procedures and resources. The SENCO’s role is becoming increasingly demanding, particularly in view of the growing inclusion of young people with more complex learning difficulties in mainstream schools. Skilled psychological support can provide a vital proactive tool in the planning and management of effective SEN provision.
Our SENCO Support Service provides guidance and assistance by experienced Chartered Educational Psychologists. This service can form part of a continuing professional development programme and can be integrated with other school procedures. Our service is flexible to respond to your specific requirements and can be set up to meet a particular short-term need or to provide support over a longer time frame. You decide how much you want us to provide, and in what way you would like us to support you.
Areas of focus can include:
• Professional psychological mentoring support
• Specialist psychological support in planning IEPs
• Support in departmental and team management issues
• Help in developing communication and liaison skills
• Help with compiling bids for LEA support for young people with SEN
• Help with formulation and review of internal SEN procedures
Many schools now recognise the benefits of support for SENCOs in this highly specialised and challenging area of work. Our SENCO Support Service provides a proactive approach to managing the delivery of SEN in your school. We can ensure that your SENCO benefits from the knowledge of our experienced and skilled specialist psychologists.
Our understanding of school systems, knowledge of learning difficulties and of the issues and procedures involved in the efficient delivery of SEN provision, means that we are able to ensure high-quality support and guidance at all times.
